In early January, Campbells Partner Guy Manning will set off to ski to the South Pole. The expedition is the penultimate leg of Guy’s attempt to complete the “Explorers’ Grand Slam” of climbing the Seven Summits and reaching the North and South Poles. The feat was first completed by David Hempleman-Adams in 1998. 63 people have now finished the Explorers’ Grand Slam, 17 reaching at least one pole from the coast, with 46 travelling the last degree of latitude from 89 degrees north/south.

Guy completed the Seven Summits in June 2016 on the summit of Denali, Alaska. Through his various adventures he has already raised more than US$250,000 for the Cayman Islands Cancer Society. Guy is using his South Pole expedition as another opportunity to raise awareness and desperately needed funds for the Cancer Society’s financial aid programme. “Every dollar donated will go directly to the Cancer Society for them to provide financial aid to local cancer patients who could not otherwise afford their treatment or care” explains Guy.

The Cancer Society is a non-profit organisation which is entirely reliant on donations from the community to fund its vital operations. It uses donations to run awareness and prevention programmes, to support public health initiatives, and to fund its financial aid programme which currently supports over 400 qualified cancer patients.
