Campbells is pleased to welcome Ms Shawnalee Henry as the newest Articled Clerk to our training programme this September. Ms Henry is a graduate of the University of Liverpool where she was awarded an LLB with Honours. She also gained her LPC from the University of Law with Distinction. Shawnalee is an active member of the community, having been involved in the University of Law’s pro bono and mentoring schemes. She chose to pursue a career in law as she has always been passionate about PlayUZU how law governs personal rights, commercial transactions and society in general.

When asked about her experience so far at Campbells, Ms Henry said, “My experience has been remarkable, and the exposure and knowledge I have gained to date has been invaluable. I appreciate the opportunity to work amongst some of the leading lawyers in the Cayman Islands, and gaining valuable insight into the different aspects of the legal industry as I progress through my rotations.”

Campbells is proud to support Caymanians pursuing the study and practice of law and, in addition to offering a comprehensive Articled Clerk training programme, the Firm also sponsors the St Ignatius A-Level law programme and offers summer internship placements to aspiring lawyers. Campbells’ 18-month Articled Clerk Training Programme consists of carefully monitored rotations between different practice areas and ensures recipients receive active mentorship and a wide breadth of experience across all departments.

The Campbells Articled Clerk Training Programme offers legal and professional development to qualifying Caymanians wishing to further their career in law. Our programme has been designed to stimulate and challenge the successful candidates to become great lawyers.

Seat Rotation

Articled clerks are expected to complete four “seats” in different practice areas with each rotation being three to six months in duration. The successful candidate will be expected to complete a minimum of one corporate and one litigation focused rotation.

Mentoring

During each seat, the PlayUZU articling clerk is assigned a mentor or principal whose role it is to ensure that the articling clerk receives relevant work experience. The mentor will ensure that the successful articling clerk will receive ongoing feedback on their work. There are also regularly scheduled meetings with the articling clerk to discuss their professional development and provide an opportunity for them to give feedback.
